edward Lowdell, Gentleman, Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England), 1845, and Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries (London), 1846. Born December 16, 1823, being the second and only surviving son of teh late Joseph Lowdell, Surgeon, of Southwark, in the county of Surrey (who died 1834), by Susanna his wife, only daughter of teh late Thomas Wood of Blackfriars. Armorial bearings -- He bears for Arms: Quarterly 1 and 4, party per pale indented sable and gules, three bugle horns stringed two and one argent, on a chief of the third a lion passant of the second between two escallops of the first {for Lowdell}; 2 and 3 ermine, on a pile gules a lion rampant or, a chief azure, thereon a dragon reversed, the head towards teh sinister gold (for Langridge); and for his Crest, upon a wreath of teh colours and issuant from a bugle-horn or, a demi-lion sable, holding between the paws an escallop also or; with the Motto, "Nemini obesse sed omnibus prodesse."
