John Ticehurst and Ann Durrant married on 28 September 1665 in Warbleton, Sussex. He was then of Ashburnham, Sussex and she of East Hoathly, Sussex. John Ticehurst may have been baptised on 7 February 1629/30 in Ashburnham and have been the son of John Ticehurst who was then of Barnland in Ashburnham. His mother was probably Elizabeth Mathew. He was said to be of Batchelors in 1671 and he was again said to be a tenant of Batchelors in 1692. A John Ticehurst senior was of Batchelors in 1652 and I assume junior inherited the property from his father. He was buried on 9 April 1714 in Ashburnham. Ann Durrent's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. She was buried on 27 February 1671/2 in Ashburnham. The burial register records that she was Anne wife of John Tishurst of Batchelors. Might she have been the daughter of Edward Durrant and Sarah James who married in East Hoathly in 1626? John Ticehurst and Ann Durrent had 2 known children: 1. Sarah Ticehurst, my 8x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 15 May 1668 in Ashburnham. She married Solomon Glyd in 1688. John Ticehurst was baptised on 17 February 1671/2 in Ashburnham. The baptism register only records his father's name and that he was of Batchelors. |
