Note 1: George Smith officer and Margt Smith his Spous had a child bap. Called Jean. Wm Gordon, Robt Wilson, Alexr McKenzie, Robert Smith, Thomas Collie, John Smith, Alexr Ross, Wm McRob, Jean Dunbar, Jean Thomson

Note 2: It is interesting to note that at the Christening Alex Gatherer is a witness. If this is not the same as his father than it means that they have another related Alexander Gatherer possibly a cousin of Alex Gatherer (1720-1785).
Comments:
I have not been able to find a marriage record for Jean Smith and Alex Gatherer, assuming married around 1760. I found a number of Jean Smiths born in Elgin, Moray, the most likely ones possibly born on 3 Dec 1744, 13 Jul 1740 and 23 Jan 1737. In the last case parents are named as John Smith and Janet Gallan. The birth record I have chosen for Jean Smith is purely because she named two of her children after the names of Parents here George & Margaret. In fact. Margaret was her oldest daughter. I have no other evidence to support her parentage as there are a number of them who could qulaify. there is a list of them included in the pictures.
